Ron began his career in the fresh produce industry while still in Kindergarten sorting out railroad damage, under the watchful eye of his father. In 1965 he participated in the first airlift of fresh produce, with Fresh California strawberries being flown in from California to the mid-west in January.

From various retail produce positions, with the last as produce buyer / merchandiser for the Nash Finch Company [Aberdeen South Dakota], Ron made a shift to a relatively new segment, that being food service in 1982. Ron has served in a variety of various positions within the foodservice industry, before being appointed by Tony Wald to work with the TOBA group to assist them in their efforts to grow this most import category. Additionally, in 1989 he co-founded the emergency services fresh food bank foundation and served as its first president until 1995. During that time, 2.2 million pound of fresh fruits and vegetables were distributed in 17 US states, as well Japan to the victims of natural disasters.

Mr. Orr served on the Executive Board, Board of Directors, and served as a two term Chairman of the Food Service Division of the United Fresh Produce Association. Additionally, he served as Chairman of the Annual Convention of 1991 and in 1992 was presented “The Chairman’s Cup” for the United organization. On a local level Mr. Orr served on the Board of Directors of the Central Missouri Food Bank for the past 12 years and was recognized for his work in helping to establish the school buddy pack program to now over 500 schools by the Missouri Teachers Association.
